Valiant Solutions is seeking a passionate DevOps Engineer to join our team supporting a large Government client. The position is based in Washington, DC but is 100% remote. You can work from home and telecommute from anywhere in the country.
This is your opportunity to join a busy Security Engineering team delivering cutting-edge solutions to a fantastic Government client. A solid foundation in Linux/UNIX scripting and software development is key for this challenging and rewarding role. You will have the opportunity to work with a wide variety of Security development projects to automate security and improve our Government client’s security posture. You’ll apply your development skills to projects involving IDS/IPS, SIEM, VPN, DNS, and Cloud technologies.
This diverse team is responsible to securing a large infrastructure. We are seeking a motivated individual as this team in constantly evolving and is currently evolving cloud security solutions in AWS. You’ll be passionate about what you do and will be able to work autonomously to engineer your way out of problems.
The successful candidate will have proven experience with Linux and UNIX and will be able to provide examples of how he or she has used automation to create efficiencies and integrate with APIs to connect tools and enhance functionality.
Must Have Experience:
8+ years of experience of development experience. This experience must include full time development on Linux/UNIX platforms and will have involved the use of bash scripting, Python, Ruby, or Perl. The candidate must also have experience with Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
AND
8+ years of IT experience. The successful candidate will have proven IT experience administering systems, configuring tools, administering networks, or databases.
AND
1+ years of AWS experience. The successful candidate will have experience working with Amazon Web Services either deploying or assessing AWS services and applications that run in AWS.
AND
2+ years of IT security experience. The successful candidate will have proven IT security experience. This experience does not have to have been full time but the candidate must demonstrate knowledge of best practice security and security concepts in an interview.
Strongly Preferred Experience:
Security Engineering: SIEM, Firewalls (Palo Alto, Fortigate, TrendMicro Deep Security), IPS/IDS (McAfee/Intel Security Nitro, OSSEC, SourceFire), file integrity monitoring (TripWire Enterprise, OSSEC), and content inspection will greatly complement your development experience and help you to succeed in this position.
Strong experience with systems administration: The successful candidate must have experience with Windows and Linux/UNIX server operating systems. You will understand permissions in both OS types and be familiar with authentication mechanisms.
AWS experience: Experience working in Amazon Web Services via the CLI and management console. Knowledge and experience configuring IAM and S3 bucket policies, and knowledge of AWS services and how to secure them.
Networking engineering experience (Routing & Switching): The successful candidate will be experienced with static routing, EIGRP, and OSPF routing protocols and must be experienced with TCP/IP and IP subnetting. The successful candidate will be experienced working in a mid to large environment and will be able to work with minimal direction.
Some Responsibilities Include:
Automating the development of security controls including firewall rules and policy and IPS policy.
Automating server configuration for security including logging, key changes, and system hardening.
Automating the implementation security controls in Amazon Web Services (AWS) via the AWS API.
Developing security enhancements to improve the security posture of our Government clients. Building blue team defenses to detect and block the adversary.
Developing custom enhancements to COTS tools to improve their functionality and enrich data.
