Job Description
The Digital Media Lab brings together individuals with varied backgrounds and skills in engineering, user experience design, product management and business to prototype the NFL's future fan experience. The Lab team is looking for a Dialogue Writer to create content related to game commentary. This is a unique role that is tailor made for an individual that is highly organized, deeply conversant in all aspects of the game of football, and has strong writing abilities. This individual will play a critical role in helping the League to not only better understand the language of the broadcast play-by-play and color commentators, but also to create it. The Dialogue Writer will work closely with several discipline leads across the Lab team and will have primary responsibility for writing game commentary.
This position has the possibility of working remotely.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Write game commentary phrases covering a wide range of game scenarios and situations, to be used within an application that automatically generates a summary of the game
- Review current and historical games as reference and inspiration
- Tag phrases based on a set of predefined metadata
- Identify and tag variable elements within phrases such as player names and teams
Qualifications
- Expert knowledge around "the language of football"; the rules, formations, positions, game strategy, etc.
- Strong organizational skills, including attention to detail and multitasking
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Avid NFL fan
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, Creative Writing or equivalent related experience
- Interest in or experience with creating voice assistant (Alexa, Google Assistant, etc) applications
- Experience with computer programming
Expected Hours of Work:
- 20-40 hrs/wk
