About the Job, Content Editor:
As a vital member of the editorial team, the Content Editor will be responsible for continuing to build our content program for DevOps, which includes both strategy and execution. The Content Editor will build the content program through acquisitions and curation of existing content in the Safari Platform to meet the needs of our enterprise customers. Formats for the content are limitless but currently include video, online training courses, in person conferences, in person trainings, blog posts, books, and audio interviews.
The Content Editor will work with the sales team to identify opportunities for sponsored projects and then deliver these projects to our customers. The Content Editor will work with the learning, production, marketing, and sales teams to champion the content.
The Content Editor will report to the Content Director, and be ideally located in Boston or the San Francisco area, though remote is a possibility for the right candidate.
About You:
Content Strategy
The Content Editor is responsible identifying, creating, and acquiring DevOps content. You are responsible for the full stack- creating both a strategy for the program, building the content, and paying attention to all important details of each project. You possess strong market research skills and can translate market analysis into product that reflects the learning needs of our customers. You will curate content in our Safari platform across our distribution partners. You will serve on the Velocity program committee to identify the best in person training experiences for our attendees. You are or will become our resident subject matter expert in all matters related to the DevOps community. You will identify, build, and test new content modularities.
Collaboration, Relationship Building, & Brand Consistency
You are the internal point person for all DevOps content. In addition to developing product you are responsible for collaborating with and communicating across internal departments to insure consistency in quality and messaging. You work collaboratively with the production, marketing, and sales teams.
Responsibilities:
- Identifying, pursuing, and contracting with subject matter experts to develop content including but not limited to video courses, in person courses, conference talks, webcasts, reports, books and blog posts.
- Curating all DevOps content on our platform for our Safari customers.
- Creating content for use by marketing to promote our offerings.
- Co-developing and executing on the content strategy for the space.
- Tracking projects and monitoring deadlines
- Managing product P&Ls
- Communicating with development editor and producers
- Supporting authors and trainers throughout the lifetime of their products
- Working with sales to identify sponsors and sponsorable content.
- Developing proposals and projects with talent
- Participating in strategy planning
- Traveling to industry conferences to scout for new talent.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5+ years experience in media, publishing, education, or technology industry
- 5+ years experience in an editorial or business development role
- Expert knowledge in content acquisitions
- Strong working knowledge of how to assess and analyze markets
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong negotiation skills
- Strong time management skills
- Proficiency with contracts and revenue projections
- Pragmatic problem-solving and analytical thinking
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organization, time management, prioritization, and planning skills
- Ability to work independently and to work in a team-environment with accuracy, flexibility, and cordiality
