Onward Search is looking for a freelance UX Lead to join our agency client for a project-based contract role!
PLEASE NOTE: While the work can be completed remotely, top preference will be given to candidates within driving distance of San Antonio, TX or Dallas, TX. Candidates near Greensboro, NC and New York, NY will also receive preference.
Project Scope:
The work can be completed remotely.
This is a W2 contract role and 40hrs/week are expected.
Start date is expected to be early/mid-February and the project will run for 3+ months.
Project Description:
This is a web design revamp for the client.
The client is in the insurance industry.
B2B experience is strongly preferred.
Important Points:
You MUST have a deep knowledge of digital and web design perspective
You will be leading a few creatives remotely
You must have led visual and UX facets of complex enterprise website designs and redesigns
B2B experience preferred
You are first and foremost a brilliant creative with a strong portfolio. You don't have to have had a Director/Manager title previously but you MUST have experience leading, designing, and concepting for large, enterprise-level website redesigns.
You must have strong communication skills and the ability to lead and collaborate with remote colleagues and teams
Position Summary:
We are looking for a dynamic, director-level, UX Designer to help us reimagine the digital platform for one of our clients with a global footprint.
This is a hands-on leadership role and will guide the end-to-end UX workstream to define and create an industry-leading website.
You will be responsible for designing brand-defining experiences based on user needs and providing strategic direction for all aspects of the user experience for a range of consumer-facing products and services.
You will collaborate with project teams and clients to be the voice of the user and to define the next generation of our clients digital presence.
You will define, document, and evangelize points of view on a full-range of UX activities including discovery, research, personas and journey maps, wireframing, prototyping and interaction design, usability, testing strategies, and optimization.
Primary Responsibilities:
Lead the experience design strategy by evaluating the current landscape; analyzing future trends in related fields; and identifying the intersection of business needs, user needs, and technical opportunities
Interact with Product owners to understand business needs
Leverage existing data and user trends to inform UX recommendations
Lead consumer insight research and usability activities to understand existing challenges, inform strategic and creative direction (including user research, user testing and customer journey mapping) to make strategic recommendations that will advance our client's business
Create wireframes and prototypes, lead user testing exercises and document UX design recommendations
Contribute to client presentations, delivering strategic UX recommendations with confidence and conviction
Collaborate with the Creative team to design a best-in-class digital experience focused on user-centered principles and business needs
Work closely with the Technical team to implement UI solutions and ensure the technology executes on the vision and requirements
Evaluate and identify UX improvements within existing products/platforms and provide design solutions
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design, HCI, or a related field.
8+ years of professional experience in UX-focused design leadership roles, preferably in an advertising agency environment.
Prior experience managing and overseeing the design of large-scale, enterprise-level websites required.
Prior experience working with insurance or finance clients in a B2B capacity strongly preferred.
A clean, modern portfolio showcasing your experience leading and delivering comprehensive and elegant end-to-end enterprise-level, large-scale web design and UX solutions.
Collaborative personality with an ability to bring teams together.
Ability to both think conceptually as well as perform hands-on content creation.
Experience leading a UX team is a must; experience leading remote teams preferred.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Able to present “The Strategic Why” behind the creative and articulate the solve.
Experience working across all platforms and channels • digital, mobile. social, and print.
Expert-level proficiency in relevant design tools including Sketch, Invision, Axure, Moqups and Validately, or similar tools.
Experience with multi-language platforms with a global presence
Hands-on experience guiding team members and clients through your vision and UX strategies
Ability to clearly articulate goals and UX decisions, and know how to use data and research to back up your work.
Demonstrated ability to produce UX Design work and present design solutions based on business strategy and user needs
Experience leading user testing and prototyping
Key strengths include User-centered design, UI design, visual design, front-end development and SEO are a plus
Ability to work independently under tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks
