Pearson's Online & Blended Learning K-12 group provides high-quality, highly accountable online education solutions to schools, school districts and students in grades K-12. Position Summary:

Pearson is on the lookout for inspired coders who can break down the world into objects and classes, and can't wait to try something new. We want software engineers who are excited to solve old problems in new ways, and who think in terms of scalability, efficiency, and practicality.
The Software Engineers design, develop, and maintain the applications that comprise our platform with a specific emphasis on usability, performance, and scalability.

Primary Responsibilities:

●Assist and mentor Software Engineer I's by providing technical insight, recommendations and requirements;
●Adhere and contribute to development policies, procedures, and standards;
●Determine solutions to obstacles during the software engineering process;
●Develop Web applications by studying existing technology architecture; analyzing browser compatibility techniques; evaluating solution alternatives; developing prototypes; building n-tier, scalable, and multimedia applications; programming objects, events, functions, error trapping, and data verification; and completing documentation;
●Create well executed software solutions to business requirements that are consistent with internal standards and are delivered with minimal defects;
●Maintain technical knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations;
●Respond to occasional system errors, including during off hours;
●Accomplish department and organization missions by completing related tasks as needed; and
●Other duties as assigned

For your application to be considered, you must have the following:

●At least four years developing object-oriented Web applications using .NET
●Excellent SQL skills, with the ability to quickly generate complex SQL queries from an entity-relationship diagram
●Good JavaScript skills, preferably with frameworks such as AngularJS
●The ability to demonstrate work experience by providing examples, samples, and source code
●High-speed Internet access at home and a personal computer
In addition, the ideal candidate will have:
●Background with WebAPI and MVC
●Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD)
●Experience with creating semantically-correct XHTML, using CSS for layout and presentation
●Experience with designing and creating highly scalable database-oriented Web applications
●Experience writing technical requirements
●Experience working on Agile teams, especially if work experience includes working in SAFE
