JOB SUMMARY:
This editor position at InformationWeek, which serves the community of information technology leaders in large enterprises, will be responsible for covering topics including cloud computing, DevOps and emerging technologies through news analysis articles that put into perspective developments in those areas for IT leaders who are charged with implementing the key technologies for their enterprise organizations. The editor also will serve as a subject expert in assisting with the planning of UBM/Informa's annual Interop conference. This role could be based in UBM's New York or San Francisco offices or remote.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Serve as the in-house subject matter expert, content lead, and audience/attendee champion for the cloud computing and DevOps markets, coordinating reporting/writing efforts with editorial managers.
* Report on cloud computing and DevOps related sectors an average of 3-4 times per week in order to build and engage this target event audience year-round
* Utilize tools such as social media platforms to engage IT leaders and industry experts to further the InformationWeek brand and personal standing in the community, and to promote InformationWeek content.
* Work directly with the conference producers to help influence the direction of live content related to UBM and Informa's industry events, primarily Interop. Write pre-show coverage about event highlights and speakers to help raise awareness and promote the event.
* Attend and report on key industry events, including periodic local conferences and media presentations and, on approximately a quarterly basis, travel to national industry events.
* Perform additional duties as assigned, including planning/writing for e-newsletters and e-books.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
* Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Journalism, English, or a related field
* 3+ years of related editorial experience. Plus if this is in the information technology sector
* Proven ability to perform assigned tasks successfully and on deadline in a fast-paced environment
* Superlative organizational and multitasking skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to work in a matrixed environment with a variety of departments and individuals
* Willingness to travel to UBM's annual Interop event, as well as additional UBM/Informa and non-UBM industry events
* Demonstrated expertise or working knowledge/experience covering emerging information technologies and/or markets
