Description: Leidos is seeking a Senior Big Data Architect to join our Corporate Computer Information Systems Group.
This position can be supported as 100% telecommute.
In this role, you will work closely with Director of Cyber Transformation to shape and implement the architecture for a cyber
streaming data analysis platform. You will bring your experience running ELK and Hadoop cluster architectures to build
a resilient, flexible and stable system. You will get to work together with best-in-industry engineers and data scientists to
turn data into knowledge. You will also lead the team s day-to-day working activities, and be responsible for deliveries of
key milestones.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Shape and implement big data architectures
- Build high-efficiency, real-time data pipelines for ingest and processing
- Ensure the architecture supports all functional and non-functional requirements
- Create briefings for the team and for executive leadership
- Serve as a valuable technical resource for lines of business

Qualifications: REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- BS Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related STEM major, plus 12 years of relevant experience in software architecture, preferably in data-centric systems.
- Curiosity: you ask why, you explore, you are familiar with latest and greatest open source tools, and always fascinated by what s possible and what could be better.
- Ability to build and maintain resilient, interface-oriented architectures
Demonstrated experience in defining and implementing such architectures
- Experience developing architectures with multiple big data technologies (such as Elastic Search stack (ELK), Hadoop, HBase, Mongo, NiFi and Kafka); solid understanding of tradeoffs of each and of when they are appropriate to use.
- Experience with REST APIs, Java and Python (or another, similar, interpreted language)
- A firm understanding of leading modern development approaches (serverless, containerization, cloud, continuous delivery, micro-services, event based applications)
- Experience working in a Linux environment such as Red Hat, CentOS or Ubuntu
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to design, develop, and maintain applications within the cloud environment
- Familiarity with Machine Learning and Artifical Intelligence Approaches
- Familiarity with Data Analysis or Statistics, and some data wrangling (programmatically extracting databases, transforming data, modeling it in readable form, etc
- Experience with Graph Databases a plus
- Spark experience
- Hands-on experience with running, configuring and balancing ElasticSearch clusters (Full Lambda architecture cluster
experience a plus)
- Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
