The Product Owner is the voice of the customer within the Ellucian Banner product development team. The Product Owner provides the focus for the team to execute upon, while from a business perspective, adds a degree of accountability to the day-to-day activity surrounding the product and ensure the engineering team is delivering the right solution.The Product Owner facilitates discussions between various internal groups to elicit feedback on current and future product features.
This individual provides communications for internal and external clients, both receiving requests as well as providing feedback. A knowledgeable Product Owner is critical to the success of these projects and the resulting products.
A Product Owner acts as a decision maker for development teams and to accomplish these goals, they will:Break down the high-level features and marketing requirements into more detailed features, epics and user stories
Creates and manages the product backlog, representing the voice of the customer throughout the software development life-cycle.
Support the development of a prioritized Product Backlog, including the development of user stories, acceptance criteria and scenarios for the development team to develop working software from.
The Product Owner will be the Subject Matter Expert for the scrum teams, drawing on their broad domain knowledge. They will be the go to person for the business analysts and development teams for project development decisions and articulation of the requirements.
Makes independent decisions and takes action within broadly defined practices and procedures helping team achieve the sprint goals
Help review product NPS and Quality metrics on a regular basis and plan with the team on corrective measures to improve the same keeping in mind the company-specific quality gates and metrics
Facilitation of collaboration sessions between multiple stakeholders around Product and Feature development
Work closely with the Software Development Manager in product planning, release planning, team capacity and prioritization of sprint work.
Engage in day-to-day activities with the Product development teams. This involves attending daily scrum ceremonies, leading refinement sessions, and engaging with the development team, providing direction and focus.
Be involved in regulatory interpretation and monitoring, client support, Change request prioritization and selection, and monitoring and responding to e-Communities postings
Participate in meetings with customer development partner groups and focus groups along with the Product Manager
Build Cross organizational awareness of product issues and organizational readiness for a software product release.
Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true need.
