The Defense and Intelligence group at Leidos is actively looking for an Azure Cloud Engineer to join their team in Reston, VA. This is a telecommuting/Remote/Telework opportunity and is okay to live anywhere in the USA. 
 
JOB SUMMARY 
 
Leidos has an immediate opportunity for an Azure Cloud Engineer proficient in migration of legacy systems to a cloud environment. This is to join a team responsible for transforming the application footprint of the Air Force from legacy data centers to commercial cloud environments in AWS and Azure. Leidos has supported the GCSS-AF team for more than a decade, and the contract is at the forefront of leading the charge into the CCE (Common Computing Environment) platform, utilizing multiple migration partners and multiple commercial clouds. 
 
This position will be responsible for analyzing legacy applications to determine and recommend the best approach to migrate legacy applications to utilize cloud-native services, focusing on the use of automation and delivering applications that are easily sustained with cloud native tools. The engineer will be a key member of our cloud migration team, and will be responsible to collaborate closely across Leidos teams, external partners and customers to develop the best approaches for migrating, and maintaining applications in a cost-effective, repeatable, secure, scalable, and maintainable way. 
 
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 
- Analyzing legacy applications to develop a migration plan for legacy applications to utilize cloud-native services (Azure) - primarily Azure
- Designing and implementing solutions and services in the cloud
- Design and implement automated deployment solutions for various customers and environments
- Provide guidance and expertise on DevOps methods, migrations, and cloud technologies to customers
- Be devoted to knowing the latest trends in the Cloud domain and various solution patterns.
- Demonstrated usage of Agile and DevOps processes and activities on project execution.
- Respond to customer requests and incidents
 
 
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS 
- Requires BS degree in relevant field and minimum of 8-12 years relevant experience, or MS degree and 6-10 years of relevant experience. Previous experience in lieu of degree may be ok.
- Previous experience migrating application from datacenter to cloud.
- Strong knowledge of .NET web framework
- Application development experience with C# and/or VB.NET, with a good understanding of their ecosystem.
- Understanding of fundamental design principles for building a scalable application
- Experience creating database schemas that represent and support business processes
- Proficient in Cloud technologies. Azure certification preferred.
- Proficiency in:
- Build & CI automation tools (e.g. Jenkins, Ansible, Chef, Puppet)
- Containerization (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes)
- Scripting languages (e.g. bash, python, Go)
- Full stack development
- Network design & troubleshooting
- Source code management tools & artifact management (e.g. git / BitBucket/ TFS)
- Team collaboration tools (e.g. Jira, Confluence, MatterMost, Slack)
- 3+ years of deep technical experience with Cloud Technologies including AWS, Azure, and hybrid Cloud architectures
- 3+ years of architecture, design, implementation, and/or support of application re-factoring/re-hosting and migration
- Demonstrated usage of Agile and DevOps processes and activities on project execution.
- Solid self-time management skills with the ability to plan, organize and implement multiple initiatives and deadline-driven workloads while consistently providing outstanding customer service.
- Detail-oriented, proactive self-starter demonstrating a positive, willing attitude and excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Organizational Skills: Can plan and prioritize work. Follows tasks to their logical conclusion and makes sure that everything has been done to the right standard. Good attention to detail.
- Communications: Ability to communicate clearly and efficiently to team members and clients, verbally and in writing. Able to present ideas in a variety of ways depending upon audience and context.
- Results oriented: Able to drive things forward regardless of personal interest in the task.
- Demonstrated understanding of IT management, administration, applications and system development lifecycles within a substantial IT environment.
- Must have US citizenship and a DoD Secret security clearance (SSBI preferred)
- 8570 Compliant (Sec+ certification or higher) or complete the certification within 60 days of employment
 
 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 
- Experience implementing automated testing platforms and unit tests
- Familiarity with architecture styles/APIs (REST, RPC)
- Have experience scaling and optimizing applications for performance.
- Experience using Azure DevOps for work management.
- SQL Server experience is a plus
- Knowledge of JavaScript, HTML5/CSS3
- Experience with Web Services, Micro-services and Service Oriented Architecture a plus
