Terryberry is growing and looking to add an attorney to our team. A flexible, part-time (20- 24 hours per week) schedule, including working remote is available for the right candidate. Primary focus is data privacy counsel and contract reviews.
Responsibility:Assess legal and regulatory implications of possible data privacy breachProvide legal counsel in connection with the company's compliance framework, policies and practices; advise functional and innovation teams on confidentiality, privacy and information security implications for new tools, products and featuresAssist in reviewing and negotiating information protection/security provisions in client and vendor agreements, including technology license agreementsDevelop and maintain subject matter expertise in areas of data use and protection laws (including state and federal consumer protection and privacy laws, GDPR and other global privacy laws) and advise on the impact of the same on the businessAssist in evaluating the impact of privacy laws, regulatory guidance and enforcement actions, and other related guidelines on product featuresProvide legal support to internal teams on contractual matters related to data protectionCollaborate with internal teams on contract details for both membership and vendor agreementsDraft, negotiate, and advise on data protection agreements, terms of service, membership agreements, vendor agreements, and other contracts and communicationsClearly present and explain contract conditions, details, and risk to internal business partnersEnsure and track contractual compliance with the GDPR and other data privacy lawsDraft and negotiate appropriate contractual terms related to data transfers and the EU-U.S. Privacy ShieldEnhance data protection agreements and other agreements as needed to comply with applicable data privacy laws
QUALIFICATIONS:Licensed to practice law in Michigan.Excellent professional written/verbal communication skills.Skilled in negotiation.Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
